This month I got to work with an incredible team of people on something pretty exciting! Local NC Planning and Design company, The Gathering Co. organized and styled a beautiful elopement in the North Carolina Mountains. Many vendors were involved in the process, and I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of three to photograph it.
The weekend of the shoot went much differently than planned, but it was definitely worth it in the end. It’s quite an interesting story actually. To start? The weather was not on our side. What was supposed to be sun turned into snow and we all got separated and lost on the mountain (without service). Due to the snow, the shoot location needed to be changed. Luckily, a new one was found just in time as the light was going quickly.
As we were leaving, I slid my car into a muddy ditch and everyone (models included) became filthy from trying to help me get it out. The icing on the cake though, was when my tire blew out on the side of the highway at 1 in the morning in the freezing cold. Same tire that was stuck in the ditch. So if luck does exist, I clearly do not have it. Needless to say, things got a bit stressful, but everyone did what they had to do in order to get things done and I’d say we ended up with some beautiful images to look back on.
The photos in the set below were some of my favorites from that day and I am so honored to have been a part of this. All vendors involved in the process have been linked above so please show some love to them as well! None of this could have happened without such a wonderful team. Not to mention these two amazing models / fellow photographers, who were such troopers as it was literally 30 something degrees. A lot of hard work went into this day from all of us so I hope you enjoy!
